Catmendo
Traditionally, the classic fall run begins by the middle or third week of September. This had been the pattern for years, but in more recent years the run has been moved back to early October and we not sure as to why. (Forage related?)It's been my observation this year and particularly over the past three weeks that there's been a hugh migration of emerald shiners into the river. The river is literally stuffed with these extemely important little bait fish. When I first took notice of their arrival, sauger also started showing up in numbers.Over the past three weeks there's been confirmed reports of walleye being caught on the river as well. This isn't uncommon for August providing the forage base is strong and this appears to be the case this year. I'm excited about the propects for a classic fall walleye run this year! The past couple of years have been poor so we're due for a hugh turn around and my gut feelings is it will happen this fall.....time will tell!Fish "Hard" Forever!
