Food for thought on carbon monoxide detectors

Recommended Posts

I was planning to replace the CO detector in my hard side fish house, and my background in electronics got me to thinking about

whether the temperatures the detector sees when you are away with the heat off affects them. I emailed a couple of well known

manufacturers of these detectors and got essentially the same reply from both. Here is a quote from one of them:

The temperature ranges the alarm can withstand is 40-100 degrees (F). Even without the batteries in it, if it is in colder temperatures than 40 degrees, the components inside the alarm will be damaged.
