Millelacs area

I was up there last weekend just North of Garrison and the rasberries were just ripening. They didn't look as thick as last years crop, which is a good sign. There was plenty of chokecherries and I saw quite a few branches torn down. I am going to be up there this weekend again and will send any more info I get.

Well if this is any indication of bear activity, the cabin 2 lots down had a bear going into there bird feeder all night long and that was on Little Whitefish lake just north of the casino next to Mille Lacs!

I was up on Saturday to set up my bait stations. The berry patches I mentioned before had been hit and appeared to be not producing more. I think I am lucky to not have them thick there this year. I set up the camera at one of the baits so hopefully I can post some shots next week.

I did too. I had been putting out a ton of bait on Saturdays and it was all gone by Wednesday. I had pictures of 4 different bears at my bait station at times from 9am until 9pm. I thought for sure I'd have one, but There was not one hit on Wednesday-Friday even after dark once the season started. I skipped Saturday and went up Sunday for the evening. I got rained out with the downpour at ~7pm. I was really surprised that they shut down because I am really deep in there this year away from the noise and people. I am still gonna try this weekend though.

I went up Thursday to rebait and had 20 pictures taken since Monday. They were of two different bears that showed up Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. I believe that I have conditioned them to to come in then because I have been baiting on weekends only. I was hoping that baiting on Thursday would have kept them around, but they haven't touched it as of today. They must have moved on to do their routes for the rest of the week. It was great to get that many pictures. One of the bears would actually nap in the pit.
