Very good info. Thanks. I read through these quickly but didn't recall anything on burning honey in a can to attract. Anyone do this and does it work? How about burning something like molasses or bacon? Thanks again!

Mn fisher,

I do burn honey and had good results. It worked. Others also burn bacon grease. make sure your can has a long handle on it to take off the heat when it gets going too hot.

Thought I posted that but maybe not.

MNfisher,

I usually burned it when i was going out to bait. Start the stove and add a little honey athen go about baiting. Keep adding a little amount of honey to get the smoke rolling in with the breeze. When I was done baiting I would shut down the stove and then take it out with me.

When I hunted I burned honey too but did not have to burn it while on my stand. I only sat 2 hours before my bear arrived.

I have heard of people using charcoal to burn honey with but I used one of the cheap single burner stoves eith the propane tank. Worked great and did not smell like charcoal or fuel.

Be careful if you light it while on stand. The bear will key on you!

When we would switch stands during the day we would burn honey again while faking to re-bait. Just go through the same things but if food is still there leave it and just make your noise and burn the honey.
