How to Trap?

Hi im 14 and was wondering how u trap where, what, and where do u get the money and supplies?

What a ? you get the money any way u can. Paper route, mowing grass, baling hay.......
I would look for used traps. Don't by a bunch of weak springed junk but it is a good way to find a bargain. traps are cheapest in July and Aug. Most exspensive in Oct. go to the library and read, read, read. the internet has good info too. Stay away from the fancy sets. Keep it simple and most of all learn from your MISTAKES. u will make alot every body did too. The MN trappers Association has a great listing of videos. They have a lot of great info and a pic. is worth a 1000 words. good luck and don't get discouraged.

I guess I don't quit understand the part about paying. I know it cost a little bit of money to join the the association but it is not much at all. Any outdoor sport requires a little bit of investment eg. hunting you need a gun and fishing you need a pole, trapping you need traps. Not sure but if I understand you right you'd like someone to get you started with some info on how to get into trapping. If my house wouldn't have burned down 4 yrs. ago I coulda sent ya bunch of trapper mags. Do you know of anyone that used to trap? If so ask them if you could tag along. As far as getting traps MN assoc. has a deal where people will donate 1/2 doz traps to youngsters who complete a certification. Don't know about all? Money for the pelts are from the firm you sell your pelts to. If it's an auction house you'll have to wait til they sell. I'd be willing to let someone tag along but some yrs. I don't have time to in between jobs. Any other ? just post.

Come to the convention this August in Mora. It's 5 bucks to get in. you can pick up tips frpm pros, buy used gear, and learn lots from the pros giving free demos on how to trap all sorts of animals. They even have free youth demos. I may be doing a marten and fisher demo there. Come check it out. The date should be on the Minnesota Trappers Assoc. Web site.

Also go pick up a copy of Fur-Fish-Game or The Trapper And Preadator Caller mags they are excellent for beginners. Also type web search trapperman dot com. That is probably the best site on the net for info.
