Muzzleloader Season

Mr. B

Recommended Posts

I have never hunted the season for muzzleloaders and have a few quick questions.

I have been trying to go through the regs. but I have not found if you can still buy a license for the muzzleloading season. Is this still possible? Does it matter if I already have a regular firearms license? I have not filled the tag for my regular firearms license. The reason I am even thinking about this season is because I saw a huge buck on Saturday morning and never got a shot at it and I am trying to come up with a way to continue to hunt this deer.

Thanks any help would be great!

If Mr B does not already have an All-Season license in hand, he CANNOT buy a muzzleloader license.
Does not matter if you tagged a deer or not.

You can only buy either a Rifle/slug(firearms) license OR a muzzleloader license.
You cannot buy both in the same calendar year.

The All-Season is your only choice to shoot regular firearms and muzzleloader.

Big Bass is correct. The good news is you have about 354 days to dream about next year. You can't buy more than one type of Firearms licence. You can buy an archery and firearms, All Season licence only, or eith a archery only, or firearms only. You can't buy lets say a Zone 2 Firearms and then also a Muzzeloader Season also. Kind of like you can't choose Zone 2, hunt...and then buy a Zone 1 later. Bottom line is you can't hunt him with a muzzleloader this year.

Hey, guys thanks for the information. Not exactly the information I was hoping for but oh well. I guess I could go and buy an archey license but my skills with a bow are lacking.

I think I will just dream about that monster 10 pointer and hope he is around next year.

Thanks again and good luck with the rest of the hunting seasons.

Mr. B

You can purchase a Muzzleloader tag provided you did not shoot a deer with your rifle/shotgun or bow. The all season license was put into effect so hunters who use both bow and firearm could hunt under one license instead of buying two seperate licenses. Along as you have not tagged a deer with your rifle/Shotgun you can buy another license. The All Season tag is the only license which gives you the liberty to tag two deer without purchasing a managment permit. One antlered one anterless.
