Came home from school today and had one sitting on my front porch, oops did I order that?????

I opened it up and set it up in the garage ( just like my old Summit) and as I had it set up, the roof dropped and sagged, so in the house I went and popped it back up, if I wiggled the roof, it would collapse what I feel is too easily. Please tell me this isn't normal.......

It's not normal.

It seems when they first launched there were some quality problems and due to that I was all set to buy an eskimo fatfish, but then I saw one set up in a Scheels store and looked it over good. I took it home that night and I have been very happy with it. Can you post some pics of what it is doing? Maybe a pole is out of the socket.

Ditto on customer service. I had some issues with my bigfoot XLT 4000 a couple of years back and they made it right immediately.

I had the same issue last year when I got mine. Emailed customer service and almost immediately got a phone call. The said the problem is the wall poles being a little too long. Explained to me which ones to take out. I had to cut about 1" off with a hack saw. Worked perfectly! This also helped with closing the door zippers, as they were so tight I had trouble closing them. They will explain to you which poles to trim.

When things like this happen, someone is cutting quality assurance for an few extra bucks. In the long run, it will catch up to you.

Did you get another one, a different brand or nothing?

Sometimes with this stuff where Clam is essentially a wholesaler for a Chinese manufacturer it isn't so much a Clam QC problem as it is they were provided a product built out of spec. More than likely they would get credit from the manufacturer for the product and as long as it wasn't a problem with the entire production run you could get another one and be good to go.

I fished the past two days, I have winter break in a week, I will call them this week and see what is what. If I have trim a pole, so be it......

it is clams problem, their name is on it and they make a profit from it.

I got a Eskimo and thus far all has been ok with it.

I think they are mass produced, in China, most likely. That might be part of the problem. I think I read on another site that the the sizes vary by up to a couple of inches. That might be why some of them are too tight. It was quite a process disassembling the frame and reassembling after the poles were cut! If I had to do it over, I would have exchanged it.

I had the same problem. Called them and they said the roof poles were just a little too long. They gave me the option of exchanging it for a new one or if I wanted to trim the poles myself I could and they would send me a pair of the ice armor edge gloves for the trouble. I chose the gloves and trimmed myself. Took all of 5 minutes. Was very happy with how they handled it.

I will add that I really do like this house. Have only used it probably 8 times or so, usually when I bring the kids and dont plan on moving around alot. The only complaint that I have is the anchors suck. I bought the adapter so I can put them in with my cordless drill but sooner or later I am going to forget to bring the drill with. I have heard the eskimo anchors work better so I might buy a couple of those and try them.

Be careful with the anchor adapter. It's composite and not very strong. I bought one last year and it snapped the first time I used it.Called for a replacement but they didn't get it to me until this summer and haven't had the nerve to try it. The Eskimo anchors are way better and their drill adapter is steel like it should be.

I picked up a set of Ultimate ice anchors his year and hope they are better.

Love the BF4000T though.

really a guy wouldnt even need the adapter, just use a drill bit and make a pilot hole to get the anchor started. I am thinking about getting a manual hand drill and just keeping it in the bag with the house. That way it is always with and dont have to worry about batteries.I see FF has one for about $10. Fiskars hand drill. Wouldnt that work???

I have the bigfoot too. Your situation is certainly not normal. WHile your at it, measure the size of your house to be sure you didn't get the 2000 size - that was happening for a while too.

Before i got my xl4000 i bought the command post; that was drastically out of spec, more so than the 2000/4000 bigfoot mistakes they were shipping, but they wouldn't exchange my command post...SO i returned it and bought the bigfoot. I wanted the floor space!

ONly thing i wish they had on these, was removable windows!!! Just not enough ventilation in these things.

For those that cut the poles off..did you cut the upper wall pole or lower one ?

I talked to clam and i know to cut the wall pole...not the door side pole. Just wondering if its the upper or lower one
