Putn'am ondaLine
I've used bullet-proof Vexlars for the past 15 years, and will continue to use them along side of my marcums. I personally love my LX6... the LX7's were sold out when I bought mine last year and I needed a new unit badly. Here's what to consider if you're looking at jumping into the digital age. The LX7 can be upgraded to the same format as the LX 9, so if you intend to use an underwater camera in the future you still only need 1 screen and 1 battery; which saves a lot on weight. The LX6 cannot be upgraded to host the camera capabilities of the LX9 format. Secondly, with LiIon Batteries starting to become more affordable, cutting off several pounds makes ANY flasher extremely lightweight for hole-hopping as most of a flasher's weight is in the battery itself. I use my LX 6 in the canoe all summer long as well as having a second screen in my boat, there is a high speed transducer available for all the digital units that makes these great for hard and soft water.. With the new RT-9 out soon, there should be a lot of LX units in classifieds showing up shortly.

Careful on this. I was told and I explicitly asked this of Marcum at the ice show last year that NO, you can NO LONGER upgrade the LX7 to LX9. That was a one time deal. So, unless they changed their tune and it is communicated as such, i would shy away from advertising this because I do not know that its true any longer. Well the upgrade is still shown on the Marcum home page here http://marcum.com/upgrades/lx-7-to-lx-9-conversion.html So if it isn't still available someone should let Marcum know. Edit: I guess links don't work here? Either way go to Marcum's home page and click on the upgrade's tab and you'll see the 7-9 upgrade is still available. Bum scoop is what we called it in the Corps, and the best seasoning for bum scoop is a grain of salt... Sometimes its almost best to take anything said with a grain of salt and if you're interested enough, to do your own research. Especially with anything I say. I'm glad you brought that up, because if you hadn't and the offer wasn't still available, I would have been that guy passing on wrong information. True enough. I could have certainly went and looked it up myself as well, but was too lazy. :-)
