Savage Brewer
So just unpacked my new auger, and noticed in the manual it states do not use synthetic oil. This seems real odd to me, does anyone know the reasoning behind this?
RebelSS
Check and see where it was printed...may be due to Germany having the different API/TCW oil standards, without going into a lot of detail to explain it. (The Solo engine on that was originally made in Germany) Most of the 2 stroke air-cooled mixes are now synthetic, as some of the name brand chain saws, etc, now use. I would give their customer service a call, out of curiosity.
brian6715
A lot of synthetics suggest blending to 100:1 or even higher, and I think some small motor companies get nervous with that little amount of oil. If it was mine, I wouldn't worry about it and I would go synthetic, but that's not what I am telling you to do
Chad Peterson
That's a good question. I just unpacked mine and was wondering what type of oil. Or if Clam has a oil in mind. I'll do some checking on this.
Charlie Mason
I was told you can use either Jiffy or Strikemaster 2 stroke oil when I was last in MN
JuanArellano
I would not think twice about running ams oil saber in it...
Northlander
Amsoil saber 70 to 1 at break in and 90 or 100 to 1 has always served me well. I run amsoil in everything I own.
Corey Bechtold
Amsoil rocks! I use it in my auger, leaf blower, push mower, pressure washer and almost everything that requires a mix of oil and gas. Good fishing, Corey Bechtold
Jim Kusuda
Yes, I agree. Amsoil Saber at 100:1. I remember being nervous when I first used it, and mixed it more richly, which works fine and won't hurt anything. Gradually I went to 100:1 and still have no problems. It is designed to run at that mix ratio. If there were engine damage issues associated with running Amsoil Saber at 100:1, I am sure that the company would not keep selling it. They have a good reputation and do extensive testing. I run their 0W-40 powersports four stroke oil in my ATV all year long. It is thin for less windage when cold starting in winter, yet has 40 weight thermal protection properties. Manufacturers of 2-cycle engines do not know the quality of the oil being used, so they want to be cautious.
