Obe
So last year I bought a Clam Trap Voyager, and as I was putting it together I had four bolts where the heads sheared off. So I ran to Wal Mart quick, grabbed four bolts and thought I was set. I didn't use it after I set it up. I used it for the first time this year and when I set it up and raised the seats I was showing my buddy my shack. He looks down and found another bolt with the head sheared off the top. As I began to look around I found another 3 spots that I could see where there should have been a bolt head and there wasn't. Considering the amount of money I spent on it I didn't like the fact that the bolts they supplied didn't help keep the thing together. Anyone know who I can contact?? At this point I am dissatisfied with the clam product and my buddy said he wouldn't want to buy something that falls apart before use. highlife4me
That is why they supply a tool kit with them. You just have to buy more bolts every time you get minnows. My buddy bought one of those last year and is having the same issues so you are not alone.
Jim Hudson
What color were the bolts?
leech~~
Are you talking the bolts on the bottom of the seats holding them on the the bracket? Or what bolts? Is this a part that you had assembled or part that came form the factory already assembled? You may have just over tighten them? I have had a Voyager for about 3 years now and did have a few of the short seat bolts loosen up, which maybe from me pulling it at 50mph down the lake. But, I have never had any snap off? Sounds like something was over tighten?
Pallansch
I had the same problem on my Clam Explorer I bought last year. 3 broke when I was putting it together and 1 when I was using it. Never let clam know, just bought new ones and some spares. Let me know what comes out of it. Thanks
Bernie Keefe
Here is a link to "Clams" customer service. They can help you out with this. http://clamoutdoors.com/ice_fishing/contact-information
Jim Hudson
I suspect you both got shelters from the year that Clam did have major issues of hardware. Two years ago this happened, but, some stores carried over those shelters into last year as well. I dealt with the same problems on my shelters that year, thankfully, Clam found out about the problem quickly and was able to respond to the issue and get the hardware replaced for folks that had these issues. The will continue to do so. Give them a ring or e-mail.
Obe
I didn't over tighten them, they were silver bolts. Thanks Jim, you are right on when I purchased it. I purchased it last February, I will contact clam. Hopefully they won't give me the run around.

rellison8
I have had similar issues with my Clam I got 2 years ago. Now and then I have to go through it and replace bolts on it. Clearly the bolts they are sending out with them are just far too soft for the riggers that an ice shack takes. I'd say I have most of mine replaced on the shack now and have had no issues with the new bolts I put in it. I have to think this is something clam is aware of and if not they should be. Great products but something as simple as trying to save a few pennies on junk bolts is not worth it in my opinion.
