fishnowworknever
i checked out a lake today that had a thin layer of ice when the snow came. The edges were slushy until about four feet out then it was perfect ice. I only walked out about 10 feet but the whole lake seemed fine. I think the lakes will hold up just fine. Gus
Once it stays cold and it starts making ice, cracks will form. When ice cracks the weight of this snow will push it down and water will come up. Wallah! Slushy MESS. We are in for a horrible year around the metro on any lakes that were not open. MikeRaetz
I got out yesterday and it is very spotty. alot of the reason why people are falling in is because they aren't taking the precautions that they should like a life jacket, spud bar, ice picks and a rope. the spud bar saved me a ton yesterday. I would walk and find 5 inches then start walking again no more then 10 feet and the spud would go threw. Out of all of those I think the spud is most important. I see alot of people just walk out and not checking any ice. If you are doing that your asking for trouble.
