Turkey Hunting Log

Recommended Posts

About 5 years ago, it was suggested to me that I write down the specifics of every hunt I'm on. So, I started keeping more detailed records of the birds we hunted and harvested. While it is some work, I'd suggest it to anyone, as it helps me to get up to speed each spring a little faster.

Does anyone else keep a turkey hunting log? If so, what information do you include in yours? I've gotten so insane that I pick my biggest blunders from the year before, and make a top ten "never-do-that-again" list every spring. I tend to make many of the same mistakes, but not as often. How do you record the information (computer, map, journal)? Just curious what others are doing.

I do some amateur writing for www.strictlybowhunting.com a twin-cities local bowhunting HSOforum and have the logs of my turkey hunts on that HSOforum if anyone wants to check them out. I am currently working on my 2004 log and story. I have hunted the G season 3rd week of May for the last 3 years so the info is based on late season hunts.

I,ve kept a journal on turkeys for the last 3 years now. Wish I would have started one back when I first started to hunt turkeys back in '93. Whish I would have started to hunt turkeys before '93 also. This is one addicting sport!
I keep the usual stuff such as weather conditions, time of day,who I hunt with, where I've hunted, foliage conditions, birds seen, heard and taken and such.
