Don't try to avoid it, I'll chase ya around the threads until we get a full report. leechlake
leechlake
No problem on the tires. Here's what's happened so far. I mentioned to the wife I needed new tires and she asked how much they cost. I told her about $275 a tire and she gave me that look, you know the one. Being a professional at these matters I told her that at least I needed rear tires but that would limit my choices since they'd have to match the front tires. Obviously she balked at me needing tires and the fact they have over 60k on them didn't impress her. I mentioned that when she got new "run flat" tires this Winter I didn't say a word since I wanted her to be safe. She got one flat tire and the guy told her she needed 4 new tires since her car is AWD. She told him just to give her two rear tires. At this point the fact that I'm driving around on worn out tires and she got new tires hasn't impressed her but I don't care that much to battle about it. Frankly, I'd rather blow a tire than argue about it. I have done my research and I'm in a quandary of the Dick Cepak tires vs Mickey Thompson's. Any advise would be appreciated, I'm sure they both will work fine but let's make sure they are bomb. I ain't heading to the 'mocking spot on stupid looking tires. Thanks. LindellProStaf
I had some Dick Cepeks once. Had lots of traction and that is when I was on lakes that weren't plowed almost every day. Man they were great. I put about 80,000 on them. Of course they were shot at that point. I learned long ago that the bigger the tire and the more aggressive the tread the more important it is to rotate them. I ruined a couple of sets by not doing it enough and got that thump thump going. Once it starts it is there forever. A shop told me to rotate "cool" tires every oil change. Made a huge difference, hence the 80,000 miles. Dotch
I think you should get wide white sidewalls. They are bomb! lovebigbluegills, LindellProStaf and RebelSS
leechlake
buddy of mine in college had a Honda accord and his dad was a tractor mechanic in the Mitchell SD area. One day Rick came back from a visit home with new tires on his Honda that his dad put on. He put the white sidewall part out like it was a Buick. We gave him so much grief it was awesome.
