Getting riled up for the spring sucker run

With warming temperatures projected into the next week, iceout is possible by the end of the month. I'm excited for the spring sucker run - as far away as it may be. How long do you all think it'll be until it starts?

Just read a post from a MN guy on a rough fishing page. He's already catching carp and suckers in open water now. Convinced me to go give it a shot. We're well before peak, but the brave get rewarded early.

Jeremy, he did not comment which region. I also saw his report. All I know was he was fishing a river, and caught two carp and a healthy white sucker.

I actually read it too after running into the place where the report was made.The only thing is no one knows where this river was.Could be in Wisconsin, Illinois,or possibly Minnesota.Maybe Il contact the guy myself and just ask him.Seems easier just to ask lol

I did get a hold of him.He replied this morning to me that he caught them in the cannon river in MN.

I was just there on Thursday... didn't get any roughfish.

 

BUT, I did catch two drum on the Des Moines River in central Iowa this weekend. Also saw some carp.

Spent the nice weather sewing up my SWISS CHEESE flip shak  before running it out to storage

Altho I did get a couple of hours in on getting the boat ready foe ice out pannys....

Anybody up for a boat trip to scout and fish when this cold snap is over?

These got smoked up into Fish Jerky, (Back Fillets) and some (Belly's, Livers and hearts) into Turdy treats  ( Cat food) then some of the left over Carcass into Crawdad bait... These were too big to fit the heads into my meat grinder, so they went into the garden
