Huskie
These two lights came on for 3 starts with the service Stabiltrac soon warning. What should I expect to find out when I have the codes read? They have not come on for the last 10-15 starts.
Jeremy airjer W
It could be anything, that is why there are codes. Once you know them you will have a much better idea of what is going wrong. If they have not come back on than I might be more inclined to wait and see if they come back on again..... Since the stabilitrac uses the ABS system but the ABS system works independently of the stabilitrac system, it would be fair to say the problem would more likely be with the ABS system rather than the Stabilitrac system. Huskie
Thanks Airjer, will my small town corner mechanic be able to read the code with a handheld unit or will I need to go to the GM shop?
Jeremy airjer W
Hopefully your guy has something that cost at least $3,000.00. That would be enough tool to get into the ABS and the stabilitrack. If its anything under $500.00 he may be able to get ABS codes but will likely not get into the stabilitrack system. I'm not entirely sure if they are linked in scan data under the same thing (sometimes they will list just abs and then abs w/stabilitrac and sometimes stabilitrack will be under its own subgroup, if that makes sense).
