Shooting sticks

Recommended Posts

I currently have a single leg Primos stick. I'm a bit wobblier then I like. I'm looking at the 2 or 3 leg and cannot decide which I like better. 3 is the most stable but it seems like it might be a little more hassle getting it set. I will primarily be using it out of a ground blind shooting from a seated position.

What's your guys opinion?

100% the two legs.  You lean it towards you a bit and if you're sitting it's rock solid.  My son shot his first deer at 180 yards with the two leg.   Sets up in less than two seconds.  Once, elk hunting, I used a three legger and that third leg posed two problems; it wasn't needed and got stuck in the ground screwing up the other two legs when the pressure was on.  I figured it out but didn't need that issue when it was "go" time.  The three leg turns it into a Rubiks cube, why not five legs?  Just kidding.

I was kind of thinking what you're saying.

Thanks

I use two legs and won't go out without them. Way better than free hand!!! One set is the adjustable length type. Kings Mountain if I remember right. The other set is bamboo with the hinge and rubber strap. I use that one primarily for varmint hunting as it's nice and light.

The reason I like the two leg is they can me rocked back and forth if you need a slight adjustment. You have some more difficulty doing that with the 3leg variety. The other part of the two leg is you can leave the legs extended as you walk and in the event you don't have time to open them you can still use it as a single pole. It's not as stable, but it works.
