Hauling the Cargo Out of the Woods

With the Hen Of The Woods season fast approaching, I was wondering how you all get these hogs out of the woods?

It is again mid-August, and my grass is as green as in June. Normally by now it is just crusty brown remnants of spring gone by (because of sandy soil and I never water it)

For me, this is again indicating another fantastic fall ahead for the dancing mushroom

 

When you find the motherload, do any of have any tricks for getting more than an armful out at a time? I just picked up a small frame pack that I am hoping will be a little gentler than my standard back pack. I am also thinking about hanging some in bags off the frame if the pack gets full. Anybody ever try something similar?

I have a few canoe packs with a capacity of more than 100 liters.  That's what I used last year.
