Finally got out for Pheasants

Recommended Posts

First time out this season hunting my Dad's property NE of Cambridge and it was worth the wait. MY two buddies, a german shorthair, and myself saw about 25-30 birds in about 2 1/2 hours and managed to bag three roosters and a grouse. We should have had six but 2 of us (me and another buddy) were rusty and missed some easy shots. Beautiful day and beautiful birds!

Sounds good, I didnt even know there were that many birds that far north. I havent heard any pheasant reports from up there.

I also went out today we got 4 birds three pretty big birds two 22" and one 23 1\2" tail feather with some pretty plump breast.

And I also did a far amount of WIFFING!! Saw alot of birds though we did our best in the willow sloughs in the middle of the corn fields.

mm... sounds like you had a great time. If you want to get some pheasant hunting done sometime this week let me know. I'm going to be hunting various species every day until I head out of town next weekend. I know of a few places pretty close to town that can put out a few birds ... or I'm open to suggestions if you want to hook up.

Hey B & Dave!
There is lots of pheasants up there as long as the winters aren't too harsh and the CRP is around. My Dad's property has been going wild for about twelve years so they survive pretty well there.

Maybe Dave. I would have to get babysitting for Drew. I'll see what I can do and get back to you. Later Guys!

Oh yes. Unfortunately my buddy is the guy with the german shorthair (unfortunate for me).

Email me if you come up with any ideas ... even if you dont I guess. I may be able to help with the babysitting. My *significant other* is an at home mom and loves kids... I'm sure she wouldnt have a problem watching the kids while we hunt.

Hey Dave!
Friday might work and it would only be the baby. Mr. drew is 8 mos old and is pretty easy to take care of. The other two are in school from 9 until 3. So we could possibly hook up for about 4 hours or so of midday hunting. My e-mail is [email protected].
Let me know here or e-mail. Thanks.
