Duck-o-holic
Well, time to hang up the duck calls, and get ready to start pounding the soon-to-be frozen sloughs! I'm really amazed at the fewer numbers of birds I've seen on roads and in ditches when I'm going to and from my waterfowl haunts as compared to last year! Hope some snow on the ground will help in seeing more birds! Am anxious to get out and start really pounding ground now!!Anyone having more luck than me in seeing birds this year? Sounds like a few birds around in Lyon county. Have a friend that did well near Walnut Grove, MN. Duck-o-holic
Guest
I am wondering where all of the pheasants that we saw while sitting in the deer stands have went. Was out last weekend, and only saw 4 hens as compared to about 20 roosters each day in the deerstand.
Guest
Duck, the two areas that I have been seeing the most birds would be, out between Litchfield and Edenvale, and from LacQui Parle northwest up to and just north of Ortonville. I too, can't wait until some of the sloughs freeze up and can get out in the middle of those catttails.Good luck and good hunting sounds like you and Tom did pretty good with the duckies.Paul
J.A.Say.Tree
The SE corner of the state ain't much better. The birds are way down from last year. But there are still a few around, and one thing I've noticed is not many hunters at all. So if it ever decides to snow, it should be a couple weeks of pretty decent hunting. Oh, I know people up north got snow, but it's still just raining here.... JA
HOGEYE
I've been seeing lots of birds between Upsala and Long Prarie. And have been getting at least one bird each time out around the Little Rock area. They say the pop. is down 50 percent this year for pheasants and grouse, but I haven't seen it I guess. Oh yeah! I did manage to bag a grouse on a pheasant hunt a couple weeks back. Go figure
kooba
Hogeye, where are you located when you talk about Upsala? Are you from around that area? I'm formerly from that area also but live now in another town.
