Take a look at the graph in the middle of the page. Its pretty clear that Big Ten Hockey is a Flop. If my math is close, the 2013 final five total attendance was higher than the big 10, NCHC, and the current WCHA tournaments combined by almost 30K.

As much as I hate the big ten conference this was inevitable to happen because many of the schools in the wcha were pushing hard for changes and it would have happened anyway. They wanted tv rights etc and the wcha wasn't willing to do that. Schools like und, umd were heavily pushing. Even if the big ten hadn't happened the wcha as we knew it was doomed.
