Anybody know where I can purchase a Nills shaft adapter for Strikemaster?

I wanna put a Nills shaft on my Strikemaster powerhead. Anybody know where I can get an adapter?

Guessing a welding shop should be able to fix you up. You need a coupler but the shaft on your auger I believe is smaller than the shaft on the nils. Might be a little machining involved.

Ice Gator has them. It's on the bottom of their products page and it's called the Nils Auger Adapter. I ordered one a few years back and remember it took a long time for delivery.

My main question is why? The reason a Nils is so good is not the auger but the powerhead. In fact most tourney guys are putting Lazer Hand Augers on their Tanaka power heads because they are faster.

As to why, because he already has the best hand auger made and probably has an old SM powerhead. I put one together for a friend. The rotation is slow but it drill rate was crazy. There are plenty of Tournament guys running Nils by hand, Tanaka power, and cordless drill.

Best hand auger? It's not even debatable. Take a look at the world championships where it's hand augers only. Not one team runs a Nils!! For power augers take a look at the UPL, NAIFC and TE circuits and you don't even see a Nils auger out there anymore. Tanaka power heads yes but they all run mora lazer augers with them.

I had an 8" nils on a strikemaster 2 hp Tecumseh. The adapter was 60 bucks though from a machine shop.

If you like your hand auger that is OK. the OP asked about an adapter for Nils drill to SM. Fact is a Nils blade works well with any powerhead, gas, electric, and excellent choice for cordless drills.

Just chuck it up and drill.

Lawrence where can I find an adapter to put a 7 inch Mora hand auger on my Tanaka power head. I have the Clam Plate setup but would like to use the Mora on my Tanaka for thick ice.

That is true I've seen more nils on my local lake then ever before. Guys are running them on cordless drills. I still love the gas option. Watch where you drill with the nils if you decide to use one. Watch for road buggers from trucks that sand will kill it.
