trbennett3
Hey does anyone have any info or has fished the backwaters of the Minnesota river in Bloomington MN. I’m thinking of fishing Colman lake on the north side of the river and 9 mile lake and one other that I don’t think has a name and just curious if anyone has fished them or have info on fishing them. I’m thinking of heading out this weekend

bobbymalone
I'm not sure about those lakes in particular but many of those backwater lakes along the MN river are 4 foot deep swamps. Maybe there is a hidden gem out there, but I've always figured it's a waste of time.
mn86
i had one of my best perch ice fishing days on a shallow slough that was supposedly only used for waterfowl hunting. its worth a shot, i mean its not really wasting time if your doing something u enjoy. maybe you will get on a pile of slab crappies or maybe you wont catch anything but at least you know if you try! th64
The main reason a shallow body of water would not have fish here in Mn. is freeze out events, anything connected to a river might not freeze out and even if it did the river system would quickly restock it. With flow from the river and springs be careful, but most importantly PM me if you find something good!
