jmillsp
OK, I got kind of sick and tired yesterday while ice fishin watchin my little Rat Finke slowly spin with my camera! When the fish aren't aggressive, like yesterday, you can't have a spinning jig! What do you guys do to prevent this problem?? I sometimes put a little swivel up about a foot or so from the jig. That seems to help. I would add that I am using Okuma fly reels so as to help prevent twist in my line! I think my buddie has less twist problems using his old Schooleys!! amateurfishing
Something is wrong, you should have zero spin with an inline reel. Maybe it was twisted when u spooled it on?
monstermoose78
no if fishing gills when they do the sunnie swirl it puts line twist in the line. I like to put line on every few outings. I do not put as much line on as some. 70-90 feet is what I put on. I know I could get spooled by a pike, but it has not happened yet. drcarplove
You can stretch your 1st 15 to what ever feet of line once in a while. Also a little tip jiggle often keeps a jig rocking on an up and down axis reducing spin with the horizontal type jigs.Frank
Mr.Seaguar
Jigs will spin if the bait is unbalanced. If your maggots or waxies are to one side you can put a twist into the line with every jigging stroke. So after you stop jigging your line will untwist. Replacing line really helps. Fireman196
I purchased a fly fishing leader straigtner and use it often. Like every three times I put the lure down the hole. It is two pieces of leather with rubber pads glued to the insides. Just run the line through the middle so it touches the rubber pads and it does wonders for line twist. Takes like 10 seconds to do. I purchased several in-line reels hoping to eliminate line twist, it helped a lot but doesn't eliminate it.
