Pile of ICE-55

My main fishing buddy after years of me telling him to stick with them main two, Marcum or Vexilar, purchased a Hummingbird 55 a year or two ago. Fast forward to a year or two after purchase and the motor stops working.....shows a few things on the screen for numbers but "it no spin". Common problem as far as I am concerned.

Just in case you ask, I am not a rookie to locators and we have checked the battery.

There are two options I have given him:

1. Send it back to Hummingbird for there flat charge of $175.00 (Holy dump!) and just pay the man.....

2. Put the piece of dump in the garbage can.....

Any help out there????

My dad and I have had the 55 for 3 years. Love it! I've had zero problems with it. Your buddy might have just gotten a lemon

Open it up and see if something came loose.

Maybe check youtube for any repair issues. Amazing how much info is out there.

Hey Burr! How have you been? Did you try to open it up & see? Don't they have brush system like vexilar do? I have heard if you just clean them up they are good to go. Just a thought. $175 that is just crazy!
