Dan Wood
I feel that you can be much more accurate with a baitcaster. You can pitch and flip, which in terms of accuracy and a quiet presentation, is a huge bonus for the baitcaster. The spinning rod and baitcaster definitely both have a place in the boat. I use a spinning rod for finesse presenations, but a baitcaster for everything else. Baitcasters also handle heavy line better, especially when you get into the slop and 50 lb. line as well as fluorocarbon. Casting heavier lures such as buzzbaits and spinnerbaits is much easier on the arm and more effective on a baitcaster too.
locolocal
In addition to what Dan said, I think baitcasters offer a lot more torque. I feel you can get the fish turned much faster with a baitcaster - whether you're fishing slop, docks, foil, whatever. Even with my MH Loomis spincast rig, a 3lb fish feels like a load. IaFisherman
Adding to what has already been said, I too think you have more control of your lure in tight conditions with a baitcaster. You can whip your lure towards your target and land it with barely splash. Spinning reels are also a very important piece of equipment to have on-board!Just my 2 cents
riverrat56
Ya when you use a baitcaster you can flip and pitch and also cast heavier baits eaiser, I have found that they eliminate line twist better because with a spinning reel i get the line to twisted when using buzz baits. But i agree in that i like fishing spinning reels more and i usually use one because my only baitcaster is set up with 50lb power pro for cats or if im fishing heavy jigs in heavy cover. SledNeck_X
What exactly would be the advantages of using a baitcaster? I have never used one for bass and wouldnt even think of it unless I could be overwhelmingly convinced by results. I use every lure imaginable for bass/pike with my medium action spinning rod w/20lb fireline, and have never had a any problem catching fish, and spinning rods seem like they cast farther and more accurately. Plus I cut lure off and use it as a walleye rod.
EBass
I like to have both. Actually I've gotta have both. They both have time, place and purpose.
