ESSGuy
Looking for any real world reviews of GM 6.2L in a 2014 or 2015 Silverado or Sierra. Prefer the 15 with the new 8 speed trans, but reviews of the 14 with 6 speed would also be welcome. Towing power and mpg?
ncesi
Bought a new 1500 in May with the 6.2. went from a 1 ton diesel so I wanted the power as I still do some heavy towing for my business but not as much as I used to. The engine is strong and very fast. It will go from 50 to 95 in a hurry. The manual tell s you to run 91 octane for best mileage and performance. I have run 87 but do run 91 moist of the time. It is moody as far as gas mileage. I average about 17-18, have gotten as hi as 21 and as low a 9.8 pulling a enclosed trailer loaded at 75-80 mph. You can drive a road in the morning when it is rainy and cool and get 15-16 mpg, thee return trip the same day in sunny warmer weather and you can get 19. Like I started it seems moody on that mote but the 6.2 has plenty of power and goes like he**.
