Cloudy Water?

I'm new to spearing so bear with me. I went out 3 weeks ago at our cabin and it was crystal clear (like high definition tv)in 7ft of water where I was spearing. I went up last weekend and cut the hole got everything ready and it was cloudy? You couldn't even see my vexilar transducer 2ft down and couldn't spear. Will this clear up? How long does it take? and what causes it ? Warm weather? Rain ?

The best answer is...maybe. Lol. There are so many factors that cause water clarity that it's impossible to give a firm "blanket" answer. I know that where I was spearing it was fairly clear, and after all the warm weather we had in mid-December up here there was standing water on the ice that drained into every hole around...that made for clarity issues on some lakes and not on others. Sometimes lakes turn over and start out cloudy but end up clear...or vice versa. Some lakes are always cloudy. Some are always clear. Some lakes change from year to year. Some lakes change based on water current from inlets and outlets. Some lakes experience algae blooms and other natural phenomena that change clarity throughout the year. It's frustrating, but the best thing you can do is check it again...then again if needed. I've had to move my house to a new lake already this year because it wasn't clearing up fast enough for my tastes... I wish there was a black and white answer I could give you, but there really isn't.
