New Clarification For Winter ATV Riders

As per the 2015 MN ATV Regulations, an ATV will no longer be considered a snowmobile with a track and/or ski conversion kit. They will be considered an ATV regardless of drive train equipment.

I know this topic has come up in past discussions. Now it's in black and white. You can in no way convert an ATV and get away with riding on designated snowmobile trails.

I have been thru this and tried to get the ATV and Snowmobile people top come together but to no avail. Also remember that once you put tracks on an ATV it is no longer a ATV by definition either it is an Off Road Vehicle and one cannot even ride it in the same places as an ATV like on ATV Trials and in ditches of county roads etc... Just another example of how screwed up the definitions are and the lack of willingness of the DNR to reassess the definitions and make any changes.

I moved here from the UP. Honestly, I was baffled at how little riding there is available.

I could leave out my back gate on my RM and ride all the way to the Soo without touch pavement save for road crossings and fuel stops.
