picksbigwagon
Had my auger out on the ice and it would bog down after 4-5 holes and then stop and I couldn't start it for 5 minutes and then it wouldn't start wihout multiple pulls. I pull the spark plug thinking that was the problem and I am sure it was one of the issues, BUT looking at the owners manual it said the air hose should be next to the fuel cap.....no air line is next to my fuel cap, it has fallen ( I hope back into the tank. How can I get that air line back into position? I am not completely mechanically inept, has anyone had this issue and if so, how did you go about fixing it? maxpower117
One thing you could try is to loosen the gas cap. Sometimes the gas cap valves fail and cause a vacuum in the tank. Sounds feasible based on your description.
picksbigwagon
Never mind, I just drained the gas and I see that when I had the fuel lines replaced at a local shop who does really good work, didn't bring the air line up to the cap......how hard is it to replace this air line? Once again, I am not inept, but some direction would be awesome.
harvey lee
If I remember correctly, there are 2 fuel lines for this auger, one is a return line and the other feeds the fuel. If you open the cap on the fuel tank, you will see a line there.I had to replace one of these fuel lines, either the return or the main feed line as it got rotten or cracked and sucked air.Cal StrikeMaster and they will explain how to fix it, it is an easy fix. 5 minutes maybe. My auger acted the way you described and after the fuel line change, ran perfect.Picks, here is a link to ehow to explain how to change the fuel line. I am sure you can get the line from Strikemaster.http://www.ehow.com/how_12082881_replace-gas-line-strikemaster-auger.htmlIf this link does not help with your air line, do a search, lots online on how to do it. picksbigwagon
New gas line, with extra line up towards the cap, $1.34...... Now I just need to get some next premix gas in the can and we will give it all a rip tomorrow after school. The air line not getting air would absolutely explain my auger issues last weekend and part of last year too now that I think about it. Thanks for the help fellas, I feel a little ashamed I asked first because it was that super easy to fix.
harvey lee
Hopefully you have it fixed, it should run well now. This issue has been repaired by more than a few. I do mine every 2 years just so I do not run into a problem on the lake as it is cheap to replace and easy also.

aanderud
The yellow gas line material supposedly won't get brittle and crack like the clear/white stuff they ship with. I was up at drock picking up a gas tank (apparently the gas tank will crack if they come off your snowmobile at 40 mph) 2 or 3 years ago for mine and they threw in 3 feet or so of the yellow fuel line for free and I haven't had to replace it since. We'll see how many years I can get out of this stuff. I used half when I put the new gas tank on and the other half is sitting in the tool box. picksbigwagon
Just ran it for 10 minutes in the garage, running like a top, can't wait for the next two weeks of vacation to really put it through the paces!
