jt24
I have never had a propane auger but was looking into the Pro4 Lite model. Would you recommend this auger or would the Pro4 be better. It would be used in portable but also permanent house. Does it have the power to reopen holes? Any other info would be of help.
Trout26
I bought one beginning of last year and can honestly say I haven't had any problems up to date. I have used it In -20 and it worked fine. Haven't had any issues reopening holes in a permanent either. It works when I want it too and that's all that matters to me. Sand Burr
I have had and own them both. They are very reliable and I always tell people the choice is made with the style of fishing you do. If you need to travel light then get the Pro-4 lite. It has less power and a different cutting system but you have to give somewhere. The Pro-4 is a little heavier but has superior power and a awesome cutting system. I personally grab the Pro-4.
younggun
I haven't used the lite but the pro4 is great. My buddy has one and I would buy one if I didn't already have a gas jiffy. I don't think I'd like to give up any power by going with the lite but that's just me and I usually only punch 20 holes a day max.
bloc004
I was looking at the lite, but after talking to the Jiffy guy at the ice show, he said they will be changing a couple things on the lites after this year. The recoil is one thing they are changing. I went with the pro4, as 6 lbs wasn't worth giving up the power.
Bullhead Bob
I had a Pro 4 lite last year. Disaster! Recoil failed 2 times. High compression, almost pulls your arm off. After the 3rd time in for repair, I took it back to where I bought it, and they gave me a refund. Store Manager said they were dogs, stick with the Pro 4 if you want propane. I went ION, and love it
Iron Cowboy
I bought the pro 4 and its been great. I don't buy the logic of the "lite",, why give up power and get an unreliable unit to save a few pounds? If you are too weak to handle the couple pounds heavier auger you probably aren't going to be drilling tons of holes anyhow, which is where the "lite" was supposed to be the better unit to avoid fatigue....total marketing gimmick to separate more of you from your money. pulsar_nx
I've had both, the pro4 is heavy, effortless to start and has more power than you need. The pro4 lite is reasonably lightweight and now that mine is broken in after 2 years of light use cuts a hole nearly as good as the pro4. The lite does have more compression but still starts easly. I don't see why people go electric when propane is this good.
fishinnut_3446
My.02 In my opinion JUNK! I have a 2nd gen. Pro4 love it so much decided to get a lite for myself and the Son gets the Pro4. Well getting out on the ice drilled we maybe 1/2 doz.holes and started acting up,already warm it would take 10-15-20 pulls to get running and when it was had to give full throttle or it would die! That 1 went back to GM and exchanged for different 1 and same story Still have Pro4 and the lite went back for a Nils.
