I have shot a browning semi auto for years and love it, was at the gun store a year ago and picked up a winchester select ou, it fit me perfectly, most of them dont so I got it and was worried about the two shots. Well, I shoot much better with it then my semi, dont know why for sure but missing few birds now, and thats all that matters

I think the doubles ability to have two different chokes is a big bonus. Also knowing you only have two shots puts a little more focus on the shooter. Finally I'd love to see the shooting stats on wild birds on the third shot if you have an auto or pump. Probably many times getting out of range or just a bad angle for a good kill shot. Ammo companies must love the third shot stats.

Have shot nothing but double guns over 60 years. Have never missed a third shot. One of my favorite guns is a 1958 Browning Superposed, 28" mod/full and you would not believe me if I told you the numbers of ducks and geese that have fallen to that gun. And it's companion 20-guage same vintage. Of course most people know the Citori is a Japanese made modified Superposed but they are solid dependable gun, lacking some of the mechanical sophistication. All the other doubles have been Parkers, Foxes, L.C.Smith and some sophisticated European guns. Double guns are reliable, much easy to handle than those big clanking and clunky mechanical machines. Should a Superposed not fire the top barrel-or either barrel (something I have NEVER had happen) quickly slide the safe on and then off and the second barrel WILL fire. Have never had a Superposed NOT fire and frankly can't recall ever having ANY double gun not fire although I'm sure it happens...probably because of a dirty gun or broken piece.

Shoot what you want fellas, but don't be afraid of buying a vintage Superposed or double gun. Remember though you will have to use the right ammo in the older guns.

The only way you'll get my double from me is if you pry it from my old red hands.
