TV BOY
Our lake is always gin clear summer and winter. Tried spearing Monday and today and can not see decoy 6 feet down! is that typical of early ice? 2nd year spearing so this is new to me. Any ideas how much longer till it is clear again ? MJ1657
Wind we had right at ice up hurt alot of the lakes clarity. Sometimes they clear up sometimes they don't.
th64
Yep, I've heard that whatever the conditions are at ice up that condition can be sealed off for the winter.
terrible_fisherman
Lake I spear on is normally very clear as well and this yeas is pretty murky. Can only hope they clear up in time but doesn't always happen.

shortfatguy
Seeing the same thing on the lake I am on. Usually a pretty clear lake but I put the house out this weekend and its a bit murky. Hoping it clears up! Good news is there is enough ice to drive on! 14+ inches of good solid ice!
LunkerCity
Two years ago I went to a new lake. Crystal clear and had the best year of my life. Last year it was really stirred up after the windy deer season, speared three small fish in 8- 10 sits before bailing out. This year my hopes were high being that it wasn't nearly as murky as last year. It still isn't like it was though... I sat twice and didn't see any pike, not a big deal. Since then the dreaded red algae has bloomed like crazy and sometimes I don't think I'd even be able to see a fish. Been out 7 times without seeing a pike. I think I'll be moving it when I get back from my Basswood trip this weekend.
