Mr.Seaguar
Fish higher off bottom, perch often take baits 5' up. Use rattle/noise lure and subtle offering in tandem. Using a chub as an attractor works good, where legal. When the school is down there, have one guy jig like mad to keep perch from leaving until others can get baits back down
slicjigger
You got any certain lake in mind? Start with small chubby darter gold/ orange rattle em" in! I love the perch fishin' too!
Bureaucrat
Keep drilling holes till you find fish. I'm heading out tomorrow and will be disappointed if I don't get to 100 holes if I don't find fish. I go down with a flashy spoon with a minnow head and jig pretty aggresively to see if there are fish. If I see fish I'll moderate my jigging. Still no bite? I'll get down there with a pink mooska tungsten jig and a spike to see if they'll take that. Still nothing? Plain hook and a minnow.
Naturboy
Oh ya, gotta love getting on a good perch bite. Always liked a Buckshot spoon to pound the bottom with in deeper water. Fishing by myself I usually have a minnow on a dead stick to keep some movement in the area to hold fish in the area. This year I'm going to try a tip I heard from Jason M. and fish a minnow on a plain hook with a split shot. Sometimes they might not want any flash.
