Lowrance ice 65 ice ducer bad?

My buddy has a Lowrance ice machine 65 and it quit reading but everything else seems to work. He doesn't want to buy a new ducer to find out the unit is shot. Is it common on these units to have the ducer go bad? It quit about 4 years ago so he doesn't remember exactly what happened but he thints it started getting interference and then quit reading.

Tell him to turn on the unit and put the bottom of the ducer up tight to his ear. He should be able to hear a low clicking sound. If not it's junk!

He said he did check that and its not pinging.What if something in the unit it's self isn't sending a ping to the ducer, can a guy do an ohm reading on the ducer and tell anything?

The ducer is shot dude.

So he brought the Lowrance into work today and it's a x67c not a 65 like I thought. It's the cable to the transducer. If your bend it just right it will work.
