Next weekend plans

This might be early to start talking about, but I am all ready excited for next weekend. Looks like we will have cold and some snow on the ground, maybe a lot. Deer will have had about 5 days to acclimate to the snow. So what is everyone's plan? I really didn't see any major rutting behaviors going on this last weekend for the opener so Iam hoping to catch a rut crazy day this coming one. Have a doe on the ground between my son and I so we are looking for Mr. big now. What's everyone's plans for second weekend? I'm planning on sitting on the stand I saw some does passing through an area about 40 yards out with a big freshly worked scrape by.

I too am excited for next weekend. Been a long time since I hunted with any significant snow on the ground. Actually I have shot more turkeys in the snow than deer(2 vs 0).

I will head to my typical ridge that seems to produce every last sunday of season.

Bryan,

Small world! Not sure I've seen anyone else from New Prague on here. But yes...I'm jacked for next weekend. Couldn't make opening weekend happen this year so we are going next weekend. Probably the first opener I've missed in 10 years, and I've got the itch to get out!! Headed to 179 Friday after work for a three day hunt. Fingers are crossed for a nice buck, but I know it'll be fun regardless.

Another day and a half and back up to the hunting land. Not sure I can make it outside all day with a real feel temp of zero around Mora on Satuday. Going to shoot for three sits. 6:30-9:30, 12:30-2:30, 3:30-5:00. Hoping that's the secret formula for a good day. I heard my area got about 15" of snow. I have a couple ladder stands up but am hoping to sit in the ground blind. Only worry is the roof getting collapsed from the snow, it's a hub blind. Will find out in less than 36 hours smile.

Oooo, better not put all your eggs in that basket. With 15" of snow, there's little chance that's still standing. Good luck!
