Diago
I would like to buy a battery powered auger this year. The ION seems to be the best last year. Any opinions? Anything newer available? Thanks,Jim
aanderud
There's a lithium ion from strikemaster and a clam drill plate adapter. Search around and you'll see plenty of reviews and opinions on them. Just a word of caution, the clam drill plate will require a really nice drill. If you try to skimp on the drill it'll just burn out. Plenty of that happening last year. But guys who were properly-equipped seemed really happy with them. JoeMX1825
The Strikemaster costs a fortune and the Clam plate is only good for thin early ice, Ion is still your best bet, this years model has reverse!
Smoker
I have been checking them out myself for the new wheel house. I think I will be going with the Ion myself. I will get the 24 inch extension for the thicker ice.
OutlawBiz
After a TON of research & review reading I ordered the new Ion...just arrived a few days ago. Anxious to give it a try...we are getting 10"+ on our 1st real snowfall of the season TODAY!

JoeMX1825
This time of year I doubt you'll find any big discounts...Gandermountian currently has a 10% off code (VET10) so it would cost $477, that's probably the best deal you'll find until spring clearance time... OutlawBiz
I just bought mine from profishingsupply.com. $519 with free blades ($49 value) & free shipping. Fishnstyle.com in Savage, MN has/had an "Early bird" special for $476 but $35 shipping. Since I am in SD, I bought one from MN to avoid paying sales tax! JoeMX1825
If you can go this season without it, you'll save a boatload in the spring when they clearance them out...that's what I did last spring, it just matters if waiting to you is worth saving $50-$100....
