Orion921
50 cal. Hawkin, ball & patch= 70 gr. With a bullet, 110 gr. pyrodex I have shot many deer with that load
jbud
Blackhorn 209. Seems spendy, but a 110 grain equivalent load behind a 300 grain bullet will give you close to 1900 fps in your Omega. I use Harvester gold tip or Shockwaves, but in either case use a Harvester sabot. TC usually requires the black crush rib, if it's too loose use the red. Throw those easy glide sabots away. Use a magnum shotgun primer, much cheaper than the 777 primers. Easy loading, easy cleanup, no crud ring, you'll never look back. Work up to the 110 load. lawdog
I used to shoot Pyrodex but got tired of the smell and mess so switched to Triple & which I love. I'm a pellet guy, I don't want to mess around with measuring and trying to make sure my home made measuring job is consistent.I shoot 250 grain Shockwaves and 100 grains (2 pellets) of Triple 7 without the scope. When I scope it up with my Nikon Omega BDC I shoot 3 pellets and the same slug.
maros91
I harvested a deer with my muzzy this year. Took a buck at 80 yards. Using 100 grains of Blackhorn 209 and a 250 gr. Barnes TEZ. This was with my new TC Pro Hunter. The bullets didn't load easy. Had to really push on them. I clean the muzzy after 2 shots. After I took the buck in for processing I went and bought the 250 gr. hornady's, which I used before with my old muzzy. Loaded great and shot great. Was going to sight in at 100 yards but my pin covered the whole target. I took 2 shots each at 100 yards, 75, 50, 25 and 20. These were my results: The pic is sideways but you get the picture. The 2 that are high and low are at 100 where the sight covered the target
