I guess I am having a little trouble here. The OP claims that he is forced to move here by the squeeze and yet he expects us to believe that he can chose where they will live. Dream on dude.

Ha!!! smile Yep, good luck OP!

Anyway, here is my advice, wherever you live here, since you are from Duluth, live close to 35 with the cities on the south side of your joint and Duluth on the north. Makes getting home faster. You can be close to good lakes and river in that situation. Friday is bad enough getting through 35 traffic, I would hate to fight just to get TO it.

Hey DLD thanks for the post. You made me realize that perhaps I do live in a pretty good area for fishing the twin cities! I too live in Roseville and can get out of town north fairly easily (yeah to go to Duluth LOL). You can get to pool 2 on the Mississippi (CR only), to the west metro lakes via 36/35W, to the St. Croix, and to Forest and lakes further north of that. And, I can get to Minnetonka in a half an hour. All in all, I guess it depends too on what you like fishing for. I've taken a liking to Courthouse Lake for trout and that's definitely more than a half hour from Roseville and the drive stinks in rush hour traffic.

If you want to get into trout fishing, pick the east metro to live in, then buy a WI license/trout stamp. You can get to either the kinnickinnic or rush rivers in 30 minutes or less. I only took my boat out a couple times this year because I got hooked on fishing those 2 streams!
