Did ANYONE have a good year finding chickens?

So I haven't been out as much recently as I was all year, but on my recent hikes, I've been finding old hens, a few entolomas, a few honeys, a few old hericium, and that's about it.

Where did the chickens go?

Maybe the last three or four years were flukes, but man, this year has been devoid of the orange goodness. Yes, hens are good and plentiful this year, but I am running out of freezer chickens pretty quick, and I'm starting to think I'll be SOL 'til next year rolls around.

I have 4 chickens in my yard that are always there.........coloration seems a bit off for sulfur shelf though.

Those look delicious, too. But I suspect cleaning them will be a little more work.

I'm a new gun owner (inherited some from a deceased family member), and I'm about ready to go on my first grouse hunt. Those sure do look a lot like grouse. Or pheasants.

yeah, and telling the kids I whacked their pets would make it to really be difficult.
