Anybody getting out in the waterfowl Mecca? Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba? We plan on heading up Oct 18th for a week or so. As always, im sure there's mixed reports. Just interesting to hear other fellow waterfowler s stories. Looks like is still gonna be warm when we go, hopefully it cools down a bit. Good luck!

Nothing better then working with a dog while afield! We leave the 18th for Saskatchewan for a week or so. The extended forecast still shows 50's. Hope its not as warm as last year. Last year we ended up by the quills. Might try further west this year. We are looking forward to exploring new areas. To me the vest part is scouting and hanging with my lab. Good luck up there!

Just got back from a week long trip in Canada for snow geese. I have been traveling there for the last 13 years and my father for the last 20+ years. Bird numers low, hunter numbers high.

Most hunters we have ever seen up there, and most of them quite disrespectful on chasing birds. Had a larger group of hunters set up in our same field one morning, with a small group on each side of our section. I always have understood that if there are lights in the field when you get there, go to another field you have permission for. If you don't have permission for another field, go scout. These guys did not get that memo.

Also noticed at least 3 other groups shooting snows and ducks off the roost. Had a "nice" conversation with one gentleman who had no idea what a roost was. Those groups ruined the area we hunted by pushing birds out.

I would say the number of hunters impacted our results this year. A lot of "noobs" to Canada that need to stay home and learn what they are doing before they make a 12+ hour trip. That is my 2 cents for the day on Canada hunting

Thats to bad, im concerned about the warm weather. We leave Friday, it still supposed to be low 60's for highs. We only concentrate on field hunting for mallards. At least we avoided the full moon. Ill report back when we return.

My buddy went to Manitoba on Friday and the hunting has been horrible. Not seeing anything flying and yesterday never even took off his safety. Today he went fishing instead and did very well. The area he hunts is in Point Du Bois about 2 hours north of Winnepeg on a private 10,000 acre wild rice field. Need some cold and nasty weather to get things going.
