To the OP, I think you are either overhunting the woods and they are on to you or the deer are transitioning to a different food source. I think that happens this time of year and that is why we think there is this Oct. lull. The leaves are falling and the woods are changing and the deer are also readjusting their patterns.

Landowner where I hunted Monday night & saw 2 late, saw 17 deer on his fields about 7pm last night. He didn't check the best field, which is where I hunt. They're still hitting alfalfa & they're starting to work on the corn pretty hard.
