I bought a new boat, sonar, and trolling motor this year to fish.

I ended up with the Humminbird 859 CI HD DI unit. One reason why is it was about the best priced unit to run the minnkota I pilot link. It works awsome and with the lakemaster map it does the follow the contour along shore so I never have to worry about driving the boat. It allows a guy to troll at night/day and tend to planer boards and to hold your 3rd pole (I get 3 lines in Iowa when purchasing the 3rd line option). At night we will do a follow the contour along shore, and then put the hard cover over the sonar screen to prevent the glow from bringing bugs around............

The 859ci hd is nice, but for a touch more you can get the down imagine option on it also. I questioned if it was worth it, but spent the money. I can now say it was money well spent IMO. The Down Imaging really gives a clearer picture of whats down below. I've put both sonar screens up at the same time and the DI view will show bottom hugging walleye a lot better. Of course a guy can spend more and get more options and the 859ci hd will do a fine job.
