Crankbaits

I was a DT guy, still am but those Strike King Cranks are pretty darn good.

Another I like and probably the best weed crank I've ever used is a Storm Mag Wart. Most guys like the pre-rapala ones, (which are like the current ones) but I like the Rapala ones. More of a one knocker rattler than BBs and different body/lip. Shakes weeds and hardly anything stops it from wiggling. It's one heck of a pike bait and have caught a few nice weed eye's on them too.

Check out the 6th Sense cranks. Great colors and an awesome crank. I know a lot of boys down south love them. I'm also a Strike King fan. Their customer service is great as well...I had 2 cranks within 10 minutes have a bill break off...and that's without smacking the water to get weeds off. I shot them an email and got a reply shortly after and they said to send the cranks in and they would send me 4 back. Awesome!

Strike king series 5 hands down! I've used DT10's and a couple spro cranks and shad raps but I like the strike king the best.

With rattles or the silent version? I usually try and stay away from loud rattles in clear water but I haven't really tested that theory.

Hiya -

Love the Series 5s. Dive to the right depth for a lot of the lakes I fish, and they have some great translucent colors, which I like in clear water. Also like the Series 5 XDs. I do change the hooks out on them though. Not crazy about the stock hooks. I also like the DT series, both 10s and 14s, and my old Poes 400s. I will also throw the Strike King Series 3 XD at times. Little bitty thing but the XD dives about the same as a regular Series 5. In really clear water that small crank can light them up sometimes. Smallies like 'em too.

As for the rattle/no rattle, I carry both, but I do usually start with the silent version in clear water. They aren't always easy to find, but bass pro and TW usually have them. Can pay to switch back and forth though, especially when you've caught a few fish out of a school.

Most fishing stores carry them, they are gaining in popularity pretty quickly. Cabelas, thorns bros, gander mtn, most fishing stores or stores with other crankbaits. I like the version with rattles myself but carry some without. I start with rattles then move to the silent version if it doesn't work.
