Boat deal or not

Neighbor just put his boat for sale. Its a 1997 Mirrocraft 16ft pro striker xl with a 1996 merc 40hp 4 cyl. elect start, power, tilt tiller steer. 55lb I pilot fair to good shape. any thoughts on value, also opinions on the 4 cyl. 40 hp merc. Thanks much. forgot to mention he wants 1600.00

can't picture the exact boat but a 16' with a 40 in good condition, $1600 seems like a fair deal considering the motor is good and boats not a leaker.

I thought those 4cyl. Mercs were real nice smooth trolling motors.

thanks guys, went and bought it for 1500.00. needs tires and the carbs and around them are little wet with gas/oil. you think maybe just bowl seals or should I just get a whole carb kit. never done this before, done carbs on lawn mowers and such. same/ different? any help would be appreciated.

Take it out first to see how it runs. Its a merc, it will have that no matter what. my merc/mariner 60 has always had that, has an un-godly amount of hrs of trolling on it and it still runs like a top.
