Ground Clearance on Angled Transom Saver

Am I nuts in thinking this is WAY too close to the ground for comfort - the bar that runs horizontal I mean? I bought this transom saver because I was concerned some of the others might not reach the motor, etc. But I think you have to have a trailer where the back end would sit much higher off the ground. My thought is hit a bump or object like a board on the road and this would make it worse, not better! Regardless, I'm fairly certain I won't be using it. It's a good thing my wife threw the box for it away.

I may just skip the saver altogether at this point as I'm typically only taking one trip a year where the boat's trailered for a couple hundred miles. I've read all the posts about using one or not using one. I thought I would try it but I think it cost me unless the company will take back without the box or give me credit.

That would definately hit my driveway as I pulled away. I have the standard bent transom saver and it works perfect.

The length on the standard round one is also adjustable.

Ya I would get rid of it. Look into the cork screw types made by several companies. easy on and off and a lot of clearance.

you have it mounted wrong on trailer it should be on top not the bottom.

Instructions say to mount it underneath and show image of it that way. Regardless, bought a different one - the corkscrew type. Works great. Guess I have a spare.

Ya I think its mounted correct. Thats how mine mounts as well.

Agreed, looks mounted correctly. I'd be afraid of the keel hitting it if it was on top.
