HELP! worms wont stay in bedding!

slick2526

Question

I dont know what I am doing wrong or why this keeps happening. I bought a flat of crawlers two weeks ago and switched the dirt out to frabill crawler bedding right away. I have been keeping the bedding moist but not over moist in my opinion. but every day I keep finding some laying in the bottom of the fridge.

It doesnt bother me they are crawling out but I am also no the only one using the fridge lol. I have tried setting newspaper on top of the flat, putting it in a plastic bag, and even covering it with tinfoil. That seems to make the problem way worse and then they were all over the fridge

I had a flat of crawlers last year and I dont think I experienced this at all and I dont know why they want to keep escaping? is my bedding to wet? fridge to sealed? I just dont get it and looking for any help or I might get stuck throwing them out. Thanks for any information!

I use 6 qt ice cream pails, put Buss worm bedding in the pail, add water so it is damp and put a lid on and punch some holes in the top. I keep 4-6 in the fridge in the shed and I turn the pails upside down every 3 days or so. Every few weeks if the bedding gets dry, I then add a bit more and mix it in.

Never had an issue yet.
