bluefin boats

I'm looking for a larger boat and saw this 16 foot "bluefin" boat.

Never heard of them before. Anyone have one---pro's and con's??

thanks

I don't have one. As I recall they were a spin off from Starcraft, both brands being built in Indiana.

dairyman,

I have a 16 foot 1988 Bluefin Superhawk, single console/remote. This is the third summer I have had it, and so far it is a great boat. It is wide, deep, stable, and planes out very nicely. Bluefin was owned by Spectrum, I believe, but then were bought out by another manufacturer.

The gentleman I bought it from completely gutted it though and redid the interior (Front casting deck, moved the gas tank, building more storage areas, built a rear casting deck, etc) Looks nothing like the original.

We bought it with a 50HP Force on it, and it ran well, but it was just not enough power for my style of fishing (Jumping around the lake to try different spots). So I replaced it with a 90HP Merc, and it moves along and handles pretty well (about 40 mph).

Overall, I am very satisfied with the boat. The hull itself is not overly heavy, so if the remodel did not add so much weight I am sure it would have been fine with a smaller motor.

I am happy to answer any more questions you may have. (I actually have been contemplating selling mine as I would like a 17-18 foot. I attached a few pictures, some are with the old motor, but the layout is the same)

Good Luck,

- Ice Fish Hunter

I logged many hours on the water in my friends 16' bluefin his was a early 80's with a 50hp evinrude we spent many days on the big waters of leech and mille lacs and it handled the waters well. The later model years bluefins were called Spectrums my father sold them for many years

My Sister has a 16ft from the early 80's they redid the floor and repowered with a 70hp E-tec a few years ago. it has been a great family boat for them. The hull and transom are still in tip top shape.
