Garden Shed

Do any of the big box stores sell a kit for a wooden garden shed? I've seen a lot of vinyl, but I'd like to build a wooden 8 X 10 or 10 x 10 shed that matches my house to some degree. Are there any websites that sell the plans for a shed like that?

Huskie - You can make your own basic 10X10 garden shed, that you can customize to whatever size and specifications that fit your needs. Make it as big as your budget or city will allow without a permit because you will always be able to use the space.

When I build mine I figured materials for a 10X12, with 2x4 construction, studs 24" on center. The floor was built with 2x8 treated 16" on center. I ordered the shed trusses pre-made. The building walls were sheathed with T111 plywood and painted to match the house….shingles picked to match too.

If you need help with basic framing, you can look up some videos on u-tube.

You can make your own double door with your lumber and sheathing materials. I made mine with a 4' rough opening which can accommodate a small riding tractor or four wheeler.

If you bring in some general ideas along these lines, the guys at Menards or other similar outfit will help you get a list together for all your materials. Then you can go to the yard and pick out all your own lumber and hardware, versus having stuff thrown together for you in a kit.
