Anyone having luck with carp?

Recommended Posts

Mississippi is higher than ever and I'm having issues getting on my first decent carp this year. Over the last few years, I guess the U has been killed off my 2 favorite carp spots after their carp studies.

Am always up for hearing about where people are catching carp from shore. Am an avid carp angler but also chase other fish (mainly from shore), and normally with some kids I mentor.

Would like to hear results from other carp anglers. Feel free to PM me and we can trade ideas/spots/techniques etc.

I normally target the Champlin area.

Try culverts with clearer water going in if that's a possibility. Saw some carp yesterday on the 694 stretch swimming around the cuvert. The main river water is ripping, but the culvert had a lot slower current and clear water. Good luck.

I've seen some guys catching some carp in small streams and rivers right now, but I don't think the bite has fired up on any of the lakes yet- still too cold!

I've also heard over the years that early season carp bite better on worms and when it warms up they'll take to good old corn.

I'm curious as to what you mean that "the U has killed off" your favorite carp spots. Did they put up fences somewhere or tear up the shore? Just wondering...
