Gray-cheeked Thrush

Until a couple weeks ago I'd never seen or even heard of these. It's still hanging around and I saw 2 in the front yard yesterday. They sure get busy.

Guess what. We were wrong on the ID. I talked to my neighbor down the street this afternoon and she told me she has seen quite a few Oven Birds this spring. After she described them, I went online and compared the photo I found with my video and sure enough, it's an Oven Bird. The white eye ring was the deciding factor.

I've seen these in my yard also but think I'd stick with your original i.d. After looking at pics of an Oven Bird, their body just doesn't match what you have in the video.

One thing in the Oven Bird description is they walk across the ground. They don't hop. The birds I see in my yard are the same as what's in your video and they hop.

Oven Birds also have crown stripes where as the Gray Cheeked Thrush does not.

thrush I would say also. oven birds are smaller.

I dunno. It does appear smaller than the description of a thrush in my books and both books mention a pale eye ring on the thrush where this one has a definite white eye ring. I guess I'm just not sold either way. Maybe a cross?

freezing it at 25 it sure looks like a thrush but who knows.
